Men's Results 2013-2014

This year, JCBC's men have enjoyed success limited not just to Cambridge rowing.

In Michaelmas, Harold and Edmund Bradbury came 7th in the 2x at pairs' head and Harold came 11th at scullers' head several weeks later having been dogged by an injury sustained in a bike accident.

Welcome to Jesus

Tagged:

Novice rowing at Jesus is a great way to meet new people, stay fit, have fun, get involved in loads of social activities and meet people from other colleges. Not to mention a welcome break from work.

We would love for you to come and try it out and make the most of our excellent facilities and coaching. Even if you are unsure about it, come along and give it a try and if it's not your thing, there'll be no hard feelings.

To get involved come see us at the college freshers' fair (look out for the red and black oars), visit the boat house for the open day BBQ or come meet the senior squad at the JCBC Squash. Or you can contact a Lower Boats Captain (LBC). We look forward to meeting you soon. Have a great freshers' week.

The Boathouse Open Day will be 10:00-16:00, Sunday 7th October 2012. Come along for a BBQ and to see what rowing is all about (map to Jesus Boathouse).

WeHoRR 2012

On Saturday 3rd March, a crew made up of seven seniors and a novice went to the Women’s Head of the River Race (the Lents were brought forward a day to accommodate the Women’s HoRR).  Again this was a very solid row – whilst fatigue was evident after the four days of the Bumps, we still finished in a respectable 146th place.

Fairbairns 2011

Tagged:

One of the goals of Michaelmas was to get a new group of novices involved and trained up, and in this regard we had a great Michaelmas term.  The fresher’s fair sign up at the start of term saw an extremely large proportion of the year signing up to try rowing.  Our first promising result was that of our novice men’s first VIII coming 4th in the Queen’s ergs competition, with one of our rowers pulling the fastest erg overall.  NM2 and 3 both also ranked highly in their divisions.

The next 2 competitions of note were Emma sprints and Clare novices.  Whilst unfortunately without any overall winners for us, both NM1 and NM2 rowed well and were beaten only by the finalist/winners of their divisions.

The main event of term was the Fairbairn cup races in which, on the novice side, we entered 4 men’s boats and 2 women’s boats.  Our NW1 came 14th and our NM1 came 9th – so, whilst there is room for improvement with these rowers, there is definitely promising talent.
